The Philippine American Bar Association of Los Angeles (PABA) will award two $750 scholarships and one $1,200 fellowship to Los Angeles-area Asian American/Pacific Islander law students. The scholarship and fellowship will be awarded based on but not limited to: need, academic accomplishment, and past/potential community contributions.

The fellowship will be granted in connection with a coveted clerkship at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Southern California (APALC). In order to be eligible for the $1,200 stipend, the fellowship awardee will be assigned to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week for twelve (12) weeks during the Spring or Summer 2000 term at APALC. The awardee will be encouraged to consider supplementing the stipend amount with available work-study funds.

The scholarship awardees will serve as the PABA law school liaisons for year 2000. The role of the law school liaisons is critical as part of PABA's continuing efforts to work even more closely with law students. Law school liaisons are asked to attend PABA board meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm.

First, second, third, and fourth-year law students may apply for both the Scholarship and Fellowship. If you are interested, please complete the application and return it postmarked by January 14, 2000 to:
